Steps for Creating Related Products Rules in Magento 2
Create a simple “Related Product” Related Products Rule between Categories
- Open Magento Admin
- Navigate to Marketing -> Promotions -> Related Products Rules
- Select Add Rule
- Enter Rule Information: Rule Name, Priority, Status (Active), Apply To (Related Products), From, To, Result Limit (Max # to show on Product Detail Page), Customer Segments
- Enter Products to Match: Add Conditions for Products that will Use this Rule for Display on the Product Detail Page. In our tutorial, we selected the “Bag” Category
- Enter Products to Display: Add Conditions for Products that will be displayed on the Product Detail Page (for Products that Match). that will Use this Rule for Display on the Product Detail Page. In our tutorial, we selected the “Same as Matched Product Category”
- Select Save
- Navigate to your Website and refresh the Product Detail Page that matches your selected Related Products Rule
- Optional Step: Clear Cache
If you want to create rules for Cross-sells or Up-sells you would follow the same steps. You can create simple rules like we showed you or create more complex rules based on attribute combinations and priorities – it is really up to your business needs. You can also still apply Related Products, Up-sells, and Cross-sells directly to Magento Products but in our experience this capability is going to be very useful to many business owners.
