Ted and I are at BA World Minneapolis meeting some of my favorite folks – midwesterners!  Our topic today is “If you build it, will they use it?” where I describe the necessity to capture good business objectives and use them to control the scope of your project. We go through a specific methodology that allows you to value the features individually and select the ones that contribute to the value the most for development. I’m working on a short paper on that topic and will post a link soon to that.

The one thing that was evident from our activities during the talk and questions at the end is that most companies struggle just to get good business objectives in place. That’s a basic requirement for this methodology to work, but more important, it’s really a requirement for your project to succeed at all….so you really do need to get them.

Next up: BA World Seattle!
