Continuing my trend of mixing my personal and professional hobbies, I wanted to share some good holiday, agile cheer with you all with a few agile holiday songs. Please feel free to sing along!

Rocking around the scrum backlog (to the tune of “Rocking around the Christmas Tree”)

Rocking around the scrum backlog

At the daily standup spot

Tasks are arrayed where you can see

Every user tries to stop

You will get a sentimental feeling,

When you see

Product demos every week and features shipped out frequently

Rocking around the scrum backlog

Have a happy launch day

Everyone’s coding merrily

In a new old agile way

Rocking around the scum backlog

Let the manifesto ring

Later we’ll have some sprint planning

And we’ll do some story pointing.

You will get a sentimental feeling,

When you see

Product demos every week and features shipped out frequently

Rocking around the scrum backlog

Have a happy launch day

Everyone’s coding merrily

In a new old agile way

A holly, jolly planning (to the tune of “A holly, jolly Christmas”)

Have a holly, jolly planning,

It’s the best time of the sprint

I don’t know when we’ll be done,

But we’ll have a sprint goal set.

Have a holly,jolly planning,

And when you go down the ‘log

Say hello to stories you know

And every task you meet

Oh ho, the scrum task board,

Hung where you can see

Updated every day

Move a task for me.

Have a holly, jolly planning

And in case  you didn’t hear,

oh by golly,

Have a holly, jolly planning this sprint!

What story is this? (to the tune of “What child is this?”)

What story is this,

In my backlog,

that I did not prioritize here.

With no acceptance criteria found,

And no INVESTing, I fear.

This, this should be a story,

With value forefront and features high.

Haste, haste to fix it soon,

The highest value story.

Why lies it in such high stack rank,

Without a PO approval.

Good agilists, fear, for anarchy here,

This story now is spreading.

We can’t enter the sprint

Without the proper grooming,

Kick, kick that story out,

The story with no INVESTing.

So break it down and detail it out,

Review it with the dev team,

Play planning poker and give it a size,

Now the story is sprint ready.

Raise, raise it to the top,

To develop it in the next sprint.

Joy, joy for the value achieved,

In delivering frequently.

This, this is a user story,

With user focused and  features high.

Haste, haste to deliver it soon,

The highest value story.
